How to Add a Shipping Rule in Shipping Cost Pro
What is a shipping rule?
A shipping rule in the Shipping Cost Pro module allows you to define specific conditions and actions that adjust the shipping costs for your products. These rules can be used to offer promotional shipping rates, such as free shipping on orders over a certain amount, percentage discounts based on the number of items purchased, or adjustments to the shipping fee if the actual cost differs from the default. By creating shipping rules, you can better control shipping costs, offer attractive promotions, and increase conversion rates.
Steps to add a shipping rule
Follow these steps to create and configure a new shipping rule in the Shipping Cost Pro module:
Step 1: Open the module configuration page
- Open the module configuration page
- Navigate to "Shipping cost rule" tab
- Click on the "Add new shipping rule" button at the screen's top right corner.
Step 2: Add information for the shipping rule
- Ensure the "Active" toggle is switched on to enable the rule.
- Provide a meaningful name and description for the shipping rule to help you identify it later.
- Define the priority level of the rule if you have multiple shipping rules. This determines which rule takes precedence when conditions overlap.
- Choose the carriers to which this shipping rule will apply.
- Click "Save & Next" to save your settings and proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Configure conditions for the shipping rule
Choose condition combination method:
- AND: The customer's order must satisfy all conditions to apply the shipping rule.
- OR: The customer's order only needs to satisfy one of the conditions to apply the shipping rule.
Add new condition:
- In the "Conditions" section, click on the "Add new condition" button.
- In the "Add new condition" popup, select the desired condition and click "Save". You can combine multiple conditions in a single shipping rule. Detailed information about each condition can be found here.
Step 4: Define the action
- Set how this rule will impact the default shipping cost (e.g., increase or decrease the default shipping cost).

- Click "Save & Next" to move on.
Step 5: Promote the shipping rule
Select how you want to promote this discount rule on your website. The module supports 4 methods: notification message, banner, popup, and highlight bar notification.
Add promotion method:
- Click on the "Add new way to promote shipping rule" button.
- In the "Add promotion way" popup, select the promotion method, enter the content, and choose the display position.
