How to Submit sitemap to Google Search Console

What is a sitemap and why is it important?

A sitemap is a file that provides a structured list of all the pages on your website. It helps search engines like Google understand the structure of your website and find all its pages more efficiently.

Why is a sitemap important?

Ensures better indexing: By listing all your pages, you ensure that search engines are aware of every page on your site.

What happens next?

After submitting your sitemap, Google will take some time to crawl and index your pages. This process can take a few days to a few weeks, depending on your website’s size and crawl budget. Be patient and check back later for updates in the Google Search Console.

Manually request indexing for important pages

If you notice that some important pages are not indexed after waiting for a while, you can request Google to index them manually. This can help prioritize these pages before Google crawls the entire site.

  • In Google Search Console, go to the left menu and select “URL Inspection”.
  • Enter the URL of the page you want to index in the search field.
  • Click on the “Request indexing” option.

Google will prioritize these requested pages for indexing, but the full site crawl will still follow its own schedule. Use this method for key pages that need to appear in search results faster.

By following these steps, you can ensure your website is properly indexed and maximize your visibility in Google search results!
