How to Block Specific IPs/Emails from Submitting Contact Forms in Contact Form 7

Blocking specific IP addresses and email addresses can help prevent spam and unwanted submissions through your contact forms. This guide will show you how to add IPs and emails to the blacklist in Contact Form 7.

Introduction to IP/Email blacklist

The IP/Email blacklist feature allows you to block certain IP addresses or email addresses from submitting forms on your website. This can be especially useful for preventing spam or blocking unwanted users.

 

Adding IP addresses and emails to the blacklist

Follow these steps to add IP addresses and email addresses to the blacklist:

Step 1: Click on “Integration” in the sidebar menu.

 

Step 2: Go to the “IP & Email Blacklist” tab. In this tab, you will find fields for adding IP addresses and email addresses to the blacklist.

 

Step 3: In the IP Blacklist (IPs to block) field, enter the IP addresses or IP patterns you want to block. Use an exact IP address or a pattern with "*". Each IP or pattern should be on a separate line.

Examples:

  • Exact IP: 69.89.31.226
  • IP pattern: 69.89.31.* (blocks all IPs starting with 69.89.31)
  • Wildcard pattern: *.226 (blocks all IPs ending with .226)

 

Step 4: In the Email Blacklist (emails to block) field, enter the email addresses or email patterns you want to block. Use an exact email address or a pattern with "*". Each email or pattern should be on a separate line.

Examples:

  • Exact email: [email protected]
  • Email domain: *@mail.ru (blocks all emails from mail.ru)
  • Wildcard pattern: *@qq.com (blocks all emails from qq.com)

 

Step 5: Click “Save” to apply the changes and activate the blacklist.
