How to Add IP/Email to the Blacklist in Contact Form Ultimate

The Blacklist feature in Contact Form Ultimate is designed to help protect your website from spam and unwanted submissions by blocking specific IP addresses and email addresses.

Why use the blacklist feature?

  • Block spam: Prevent known spammers from submitting forms.
  • Enhance security: Restrict access from suspicious IPs or domains.
  • Improve efficiency: Reduce time spent dealing with irrelevant or malicious submissions.

This feature allows you to manually add IPs or emails to a blacklist, ensuring that only genuine submissions reach your inbox. You can customize the blacklist to block specific IPs, IP patterns, or email addresses.

How to add IP addresses or emails to the blacklist

Step 1: Navigate to the blacklist configuration

Go to the module configuration page in the back office.

Open the IP & Email blacklist menu.

Step 2: Add IP addresses to the blacklist

  • Enter the exact IP address (e.g., 69.89.31.226) or an IP pattern using the * wildcard character.

Example of an IP pattern: 69.89.31.* will block all IPs from 69.89.31.0 to 69.89.31.255.

  • Add one IP or IP pattern per line.

Step 3: Add email addresses to the blacklist

  • Enter the exact email address (e.g., [email protected]) or an email pattern using the * wildcard character.

Example of an email pattern: *@mail.ru will block all email addresses from the mail.ru domain.

  • Add one email or email pattern per line.

Step 4: Save your changes

After entering the IP addresses or email patterns, click Save to activate the blacklist.

Using the "Views Log" to manage blacklist

From the Statistics > Views Log tab, you can monitor submission details and manage your blacklist more efficiently.

Features of the Views log:

  • View submission details: Check the IP address, email, and location of users who submitted forms.
  • Add to blacklist: Click the "Add to Blacklist" button next to a user’s IP or email to block them immediately.
  • View location: Use the "View location" button to navigate to a detailed information page showing the user's location.

By combining the blacklist feature with monitoring tools like the "Views Log", you can take a proactive approach to managing form submissions and protecting your website.
