How to Create a Default Extra Product Tab for All Products in PrestaShop
What is Global content?
Global content refers to uniform product information that is automatically applied to every product page. This means that any tab or custom field marked as global will display the same content across all product pages, ensuring consistency and saving time when updating information.
With the Custom Fields & Tabs on Product Page module, you can easily create a global extra tab for details like shipping policies, return policies, warranty information, size guides, or customer support contacts.
Step-by-step instructions to create a global product tab
Step 1: Access the module configuration page
- Log into your PrestaShop Back Office.
- Navigate to “Modules” > “Module Manager”.
- Find “Custom Fields & Tabs on Product Page” in the list of installed modules.
- Click “Configure” to open the module settings.
Step 2: Add a new global tab
- Click on the “Add new tab” button.
- A popup window will appear for configuring the new tab.
Step 3: Configure your global tab
Now, enter the details for your new tab:
Tab name:
- Provide a meaningful name, such as "Shipping & Returns" or "Warranty Information".
- The module supports multiple languages, allowing translations if needed.
Enable "Is global content"
- Toggle the "Is global content" option ON.
- This ensures the same tab content appears on all product pages.
Select content type: Choose the type of content to display. The module supports:
- Text fields (rich text, simple text, or formatted text)
- HTML code (for embedding videos, links, or custom designs)
- Radio buttons & checkboxes (for selectable options)
- Dropdown menus (Select options)
- Date & date-time pickers
- Color pickers
- Images & file uploads (for product manuals, size charts, etc.)
- Number fields
Enter default content: Add the default information you want to display across all products.
4. Save your global tab
Click the “Save” button to confirm.
Your new global extra tab will now automatically appear on all product pages.
Example: Creating a "Shipping & returns" tab
Let's say you want to add a Shipping & returns tab to all products.
- Tab name: “Shipping & Returns”
- Enable global content: Yes
- Content type: Rich Text Area
- Default content: Shipping: Orders are processed within 24 hours and delivered in 3-5 business days. Returns: We offer a 30-day return policy. Contact [email protected] for assistance.
Now, this same tab will appear on every product page, ensuring consistent shipping and return information for all customers.
