Configuring Voucher Settings in the Product Reviews Module

The Voucher feature in the Product Reviews module enables you to reward customers for leaving product reviews, encouraging engagement and building trust. This guide highlights the most important settings in the Voucher tab, with examples to help you configure them effectively.

Accessing voucher settings

  • Navigate to the Product Reviews module from the quick access menu.
  • Go to Settings and select the Voucher tab.

Key configuration options

General settings

  • Offer a voucher code to new reviews: Enable this feature to automatically send vouchers to customers after they leave a review.

Example: Activating this option increases review volume, especially when launching a new product.

  • Only give vouchers for 5-star ratings: Restrict vouchers to reviews with a 5-star rating.

Example: Use this option to reward high ratings, encouraging positive feedback while maintaining quality.

  • Only give vouchers for the first review of each product: Limit vouchers to the first review a customer leaves on a product.

Tip: This prevents multiple rewards from being issued to a single customer for reviewing the same product repeatedly.

Discount options

  • Discount type: Decide how the voucher will be structured:
    • Fixed discount code: Generate a pre-defined code (e.g., “REVIEW10”).
    • Generate automatically: Create unique codes dynamically.

  • Discount value and type: Choose between:
    • Percentage discount: E.g., “10% off your next purchase.”
    • Fixed amount: E.g., “$5 off.”

Example: Offering a 10% discount may encourage higher spending, while a fixed discount works better for smaller, repeat purchases.

  • Free shipping: Add free shipping as part of the voucher.

Tip: Combining a small discount with free shipping can be a compelling offer.

  • Discount name: Assign a recognizable name to the discount (e.g., “Review Reward”).

Consideration: If your store operates in multiple languages, ensure the name is translated for all customer groups.

  • Discount availability period: Set a validity period for the voucher (e.g., 30 days from issuance).

Example: A short validity period creates urgency, encouraging faster conversions.

Additional settings

  • Exclude discounted products: Prevent vouchers from being applied to already discounted products.

Example: If a product is on sale, this ensures the voucher doesn’t stack, protecting your margins.

  • Combine with other vouchers: Allow or restrict the use of multiple vouchers in a single order.

Tip: Disabling this can prevent excessive discounts.

  • "Thank You" popup message: Customize the message displayed after a review is submitted and approved.

Example:

“Thank you for your review! Use code [discount_code] to get [discount_value]% off your next purchase. Valid from [date_from] to [date_to].”

Including tags like [discount_code] and [discount_value] personalizes the message, making it more engaging.

Example use case

Imagine you sell skincare products and want to reward customers for their feedback. You configure the following:

  • Enable vouchers for all reviews.
  • Offer a 10% discount with a 30-day validity.
  • Display this message: “Thank you for sharing your thoughts! Use code SKINCARE10 for 10% off your next order. Valid for 30 days.”

This setup not only incentivizes reviews but also drives repeat purchases, boosting customer loyalty.
