How to Block Users from Sending Messages in Live Chat

Managing unwanted messages in your live chat can enhance the quality of your customer support and maintain a professional environment. This guide will show you how to block users from sending messages using the IP Blacklist feature in the "Live Chat, Contact Form & Ticket System" module for PrestaShop.

What is IP Blacklist?

Blocking users from sending messages can prevent spam and ensure that your customer support team only handles legitimate inquiries. The IP Blacklist feature allows you to restrict access to your live chat by specific IP addresses.

Integrating the IP Blacklist feature

Follow this instruction to configure the IP blacklist feature and block users from sending messages:

Step 1: Access the settings

  • Navigate to the module configuration page.
  • Go to the "Settings" menu.
  • Select the "Live chat" tab.

Step 2: From the sidebar, choose "IP Black list".

Step 3: Configure the IP Blacklist:

  • On this page, you will find a text field to enter IP addresses that you want to block.
  • You can list the IP addresses you wish to block. Each IP address should be entered on a new line.

Example: If you want to block the IP addresses 192.168.1.1 and 10.0.0.1, you would enter them as:

192.168.1.1

10.0.0.1

Step 4: After entering the IP addresses you wish to block, click "Save" to apply the changes.

Conclusion

Using the IP Blacklist feature, you can effectively block specific users from sending messages in your live chat, enhancing the overall quality of your customer interactions. By managing who can contact you, you ensure that your support team is focused on genuine inquiries, thereby improving your service efficiency.
