Frequently Asked Questions About Product Manager

Managing hundreds or thousands of products one by one is slow and error-prone, so merchants usually ask about Product Manager before and while using it: which fields can be edited in bulk, whether promotional (specific) prices can be updated for many products at once, how it works with extra product tabs and other Back Office modules, whether it runs on PrestaShop 9, and what to do when an update causes issues. This FAQ compiles the most common questions from real conversations with PrestaShop merchants.

Group 1: Features & capabilities

Q: Does Product Manager allow bulk editing of specific prices (promotional/discount prices), or does it only edit the base product price?

A: The module supports bulk editing of specific prices, not only the base product price. In Mass Edit (Pricing → Specific prices) you can Add, Replace, or Remove all promotional rules for multiple products, including fixed-amount or percentage discounts, tax mode, start/end dates, from-quantity, and scopes by customer group, customer, country, and currency. Bulk rules apply at product level only (not per combination).

Q: Can Mass Edit apply different values to different products in one operation?

A: No. Mass Edit is designed to apply the same action or value to all products matching your selected filters — for example, the same price change, category assignment, or text replacement. It does not support per-product value mapping (e.g., SKU001 → Value A, SKU002 → Value B) within a single Mass Edit operation.

Q: Which product fields can I edit with Mass Edit?

A: Mass Edit supports standard product fields such as product name, price, categories, features, quantities, and SEO fields. Extra Tab values (from the Custom Fields & Tabs module) are not currently available as Mass Edit action fields.

Q: Does Product Manager work with the Custom Fields & Tabs module (Extra Tabs)?

A: Yes. The module supports the extra product information tabs generated by the Custom Fields Tabs on product page module. When Product Manager edits an Extra Tab value for a product, it updates the existing field value/assignment for that product — it does not recreate the field definition.

Q: Where can I buy Product Manager?

A: Product Manager is available on the PrestaHero store and on the PrestaShop Addons marketplace.

Group 2: Using Mass Edit

Q: How do I bulk edit prices for products in a specific category?

A: Filter the product list (for example, by category), select the products you want to change, click "Next", set the new values, then click "Edit now" to apply the changes to all selected products.

Q: Can I keep using the module while your support team investigates an issue?

A: Yes. You can continue using the module while the team investigates. If you notice any unexpected behavior during that time, report it to support immediately.

Q: The mass edit process stops at the final step and does not validate. What should I do?

A: First, clear your website cache (Back Office > Advanced Parameters > Performance > Clear cache) and your browser cache, then retry in an incognito/private window. If the process still does not complete, contact support with a screenshot or video of where it stops.

Group 3: Compatibility

Q: Is Product Manager compatible with PrestaShop 9?

A: Yes. Version 1.5.9 and later include fixes for JavaScript conflicts that affected the Back Office product list on PrestaShop 9. If you run into display issues, update the module to the latest version first.

Q: Can Product Manager conflict with other modules that modify the Back Office product list?

A: It can. Modules that also hook into the Back Office product search or listing (for example, advanced admin product filter modules) may conflict with Product Manager — in reported cases, the advanced search stopped working correctly with both modules active. If you use such a module, test both together and contact support if the search or listing misbehaves.

Group 4: Updates & troubleshooting

Q: What should I back up before updating Product Manager?

A: Back up any customized files before updating, especially:

  • override/modules/ets_productmanager/ (if present)
  • Custom changes inside the module (templates, CSS, JS, PHP)

An update replaces module files and can overwrite those customizations.

Q: After updating from 1.5.9 to 2.0.0, I see errors like "Ets_pmn_defines" or applyProductGridCustomFilters. What should I do?

A: Expected with old customizations/overrides. v2.0.0 refactored the code (old classes like Ets_pmn_defines no longer exist; grid logic moved). Obsolete overrides/custom files often cause these errors.

How to fix: remove or update incompatible overrides/custom files, then clear PrestaShop cache. Contact support if it persists.

Q: Is it normal to see errors when PrestaShop Debug mode is enabled?

A: Often yes. Debug mode shows PHP notices/warnings that stay hidden in production. If the page works with Debug off, the module is usually fine. Only treat it as a bug if the error also appears with Debug disabled or blocks the feature.

Q: Can I try Product Manager before buying?

A: We don't currently offer a free trial, but you can explore our Front Office and Back Office demos to see how the module works, including bulk editing, product filtering, and customization options. If you have any questions about features or compatibility, our support team will be happy to help before you purchase.

Q: Can I get a refund or swap the module if it does not fit my project?

A: We offer a 15-day refund policy for technical issues that our team cannot resolve. Please contact us within 15 days of purchase and allow our team to investigate. Refunds for a change of mind or features outside the module's advertised scope are not covered. However, we're happy to discuss possible alternatives, such as an exchange or store credit, on a case-by-case basis.
